Motorbike Number Plates – Motorcycle & Scooter Plates

Our personalised motorbike number plates comply with UK legislation on motorcycle number plates and are made to DVLA and British Standard (BS AU 145d) regulations. Our state-of-the-art registration maker can be used to design both small and large motorcycle number plates online that are 100% road legal.

What Are Motorbike Number Plates Made From?

Our motorcycle number plates come in a wide variety of materials and text types to choose from, making it as easy as possible to find the perfect fit for any motorcycle. Our pressed metal bike plates are the newest addition to our motorcycle number plate range. German equipment is used to make these aluminium embossed number plates, the equipment we use is widely used throughout Europe for all the number plates you see on the roads. Aluminium offers a toughness that is ideal for the elements that are encountered during day-to-day travelling. Like most regular UK motorcycle number plates, the dimension of this type is 9′′ x 7′′ (230 mm x 178 mm).

Are Small Motorbike Number Plates Legal?

They absolutely are. We use CNC routing techniques and laser cutting technology to turn our designs into physical products. This helps us to make the best designs, and as long as they comply with the DVLA rules, a lot can be done to tailor the bike number plate exactly to the needs of the rider. These regulations require that UK bike plates are above a certain range of dimensions and comply with the proper character size and spacing and require that these items are shown in compliance with the law on motorcycle number plates. One thing that would make a motorcycle number plate illegal would be to include a single line of characters. All plates of this sort must show their characters on two separate lines, one above the other.

What is The Smallest Legal Size of The Number Plate For A Motorbike?

This will depend on the registration behind the display. In view of the requirements mentioned below, we are required to ensure that such measurements are made throughout. For example, the space between the characters and the edge of the plate has to be correct. As long as this rule is followed the plate will remain legal. That means that the shorter the registration mark, the smaller the plates can be that can be displayed.

What Size Are Motorcycle Number Plates?

what size are motorbike number plates The standard size of the UK motorbike number plates is 9 x 7 inches (228 mm x 178 mm). We store this size in several different materials, although we know that regular motorcycle number plates might not be exactly what every customer is looking for. The prices for our Motorbike plates start at just £15.99. That’s why we’ve started to create new shapes for the bike plates that we sell, which means that there are more choices, categorised into motorcycle styles that will give you a range of plates designed for any bike. We’ve created several bike plate designs to fit the likes of touring bikes, motocross bikes and sports bikes, and we’re looking to make more. Although we must abide by certain laws which mean that plates remain legal and comply with DVLA and British Standards, a few of the details listed below (for motorcycles manufactured after 1 September 2001) are as follows:
  • Characters must be 79 mm in high.
  • Characters (with the exception of number 1 or letter I) must be 50 mm wide.
  • The stroke of the character (the thickness of the black print) must be 14 mm.
  • The space between the characters has to be 11 mm.
  • The space between the age ID and the random letters must be 33 mm.he margins at the top, bottom and side of the plate shall be 11 mm.
  • The vertical spacing between the age identifier and the random numbers must be 19 mm.
  • If the motorbike is somewhat older than that and was made before 1 September 2001, but after 1 January 1973, the following applies to its reg plates:

Can I Have Black and Silver Bike Plates?

black & silver vintage bike plates Black and silver motorcycle number plates are reserved for vehicles considered ‘vintage’ by the DVLA. This means that vehicles produced in 1979 or earlier are eligible for vintage number plates. We use British Standard grade yellow acrylic for our standard and custom motorcycle plates. These vehicles are also exempt from tax; thus, when registering for vintage motorcycle number plates, you must apply via the DVLA to kill two birds with one stone.

Are Motorcycle Number Plates Legal On Cars?

No! Due to the legalities regarding the appropriate character size and spacing that vary between the regular UK car and the motorbike number plates, this can not be shown on a car, a truck or anything other than a motorbike.
